Something to look forward to… Something to work towards. Total bliss, serenity, freedom… This was exactly what I had been looking forward to my whole life, yet once the day was here I needed more. But what? The whole “remake” myself wasn’t me. I liked me. I just wanted more of what made me happy. That was where HappiNest Antiques came into the picture. It was my dream. It was my pursuit of happiness. It was my home, my little place, my comfort- able “nest”. Ah, yes, antiques… My one real interest. I love country primitive design. I love the hunt, the artful way of mixing and matching old and new, the creative way of reusing an old piece. I am constantly hunting for the right items to complete the “look.” But I couldn’t do this all on my own. Who better to depend on than fami- ly? Here at HappiNest Antiques, we represent three generations. First, my daughter, Kathryn, a recent col- lege graduate… She was willing to put her life on hold to help build my dream, becoming my social media guru, marketer, art designer, and newest “picker.” She works regularly in the shop and is my rock. I couldn’t do this without her. Then there is my mom, Janet. An antique collector for over 40 years. With her strong knowledge base of antique and vin- tage furniture and accessories, she too holds the “picker” title. She has impeccable taste and it was her influ- ence that made this all happen. Then there is me, Maryann, a recent retiree from J&J with a love and pas- sion for everything antiques and home design. But where would we go from here? A catchy name? Check. A col- lection of well-loved pieces and accessories? Check. A sweet little shop where this all could happen? Check. Passion and commitment to start a new adventure? 100%, check! We opened our doors on October 5, 2017. It was 12 months of hard work, but the results are amazing. What do we carry? A multitude of items. Antique furniture, including step back cupboards, six-piece blan- ket chests, side tables, and several painted bucket benches are just a few examples. We also carry salt glazed stoneware crocks of all types, including many with cobalt blue design, redware jugs, bowls & plates, and pewter accessories. Vintage advertising tins and unique col- lectible bisque figurines from the 40s and 50s are scattered throughout the shop. Old baskets hanging from every corner and flickering candles in the windows make the shop warm and inviting. In addition, we carry new gift items and accessories to complete the perfect country primi- tive look you are looking for, includ- ing silk & dried flowers, woven table runners, linen towels and throws. Now for the good part! We spe- cialize in seasonal gifts & accessories, both new and old. The shop’s décor changes with each season. Hal- loween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Spring, Summer and Fall are each highlighted throughout the year. We carry new and old items, glass ornaments, feather trees, gar- lands and more. Open every Thurs- day, Friday & Saturday from 12-6pm, we are always excited to meet those who enter our doors! So, come say hello and browse our little shop–we hope every visit will surprise you!
