Over the weekend I had time to read through the most recent The Connection and was so saddened to learn of Mary Smith’s passing. Several years ago when Bernardsville Hardware happily came into existence after the closing of Clark Hardware,
I first came into contact with Mary, Tyler and other family members at an opening celebration.
While I never got to know Mary on a more personal level, (she did a great job of hiring helpful and friendly staff), reading about her in the Galloway Funeral Home obituary and also in The Connection’s tribute), I now have an understanding of what a special person she was in so many ways. What a loss her passing is to her family and the many whose lives she touched.
I thought perhaps I had missed seeing Mary Smith’s obituary in the Bernardsville News, which apparently did not occur, but that
led me to your condolence on behalf of The Connection, Patty, on the Galloway & Crane website.
The full page ad for Bernardsville Hardware and the special tribute to Mary were beautifully done and much appreciated.
I have the feeling that the family feeling of Bernardsville Hardware is also present at The Connection. Patricia Diesel and others have become household names at our house.
Our thanks for bringing the hometown feel to us with your publication and for the heart and sense of connection the page I read yesterday displays.
Sincerely,
Carol Schacht
