Welcome to the February issue of The Bridgewater-Somerville Connection and Happy New Year to all our readers! We are excited to begin this new decade with our continued promise to being the best community resource for LOCAL shopping, dining, activities, healthcare and more.
Our DIGITAL impressions are increasing while our PRINT magazines continue to inform and engage upwards of 300K readers. The growing participation in our “Spot The Fake” ad contest, both through our website and via email, attests to our magazines’ popularity!
PRINT and DIGITAL are two sides of the same media coin.
Throughout the last year, our print magazines continued to engage our readers and helped in content retention. Digitally, our magazines saw viewer responsiveness reach a new high, especially with our offering of LOCAL coupons by our advertisers and recipes sent in by readers like you!
If you are looking to take local trips in and around NJ look up our Family Adventures and Big Apple Bites columns for ideas. Plan ahead for summer camps and activities by viewing our Kid’z Connection Section as well as our other dedicated sections designed to make the magazines more focused and easier to read!
ON THE COVER: Local artist, Robert Diken, adorns our front cover with a digital piece entitled, “Splatter “According to Robert, it all starts with nature, the dirt and the landscape. Being in the soil has always been primary to his creativity, with his own garden as the canvas. The colors, textures, light and forms are right there! Nature and landscape provide Robert with such an abundant opportunity to capture those elements. He states,”My inspiration for “Splatter” and most of my digital art is from my appreciation for Street and graffiti art. When working in NYC I rode the NJT lines and learned to enjoy the “markings” on all the industrial buildings along the Northeast Corridor tracks from Metuchen. I found that using digital medium gave me the freedom to express an abstract form that I had never appreciated before. My digital pieces are not my only form of expression, but they are very spontaneous and help to keep me flowing, without overthinking. Please read Robert’s impressive bio on page 8.
