Jane Cooperman Wellness
I am a health and wellness coach trained by the Mayo Clinic and the owner of Jane Cooperman Wellness, based in Berkeley Heights. I “see” clients virtually, telephonically, and at times in person. I am also a registered nurse who worked with home care clients for many years. Now I specialize in collaborating with clients to create their desired behavior change. The essence of my work is to facilitate your growth by helping you identify core mind, body, and spiritual strengths and values. This allows you to fully embrace who you are and start living a happier and healthier life.
It was the pandemic that brought me to health and wellness coaching. The enforced isolation and remote work gave me the time and inclination to be introspective and to consider how I wanted to spend my life. Big business had changed the nature of my home care management role, and I felt we did not have the resources to provide the care we were promoting. I felt a calling to help people and was not able to fulfill that anymore through my work as an RN. And I am evidence that a person can live a healthy, vibrant life regardless of age. Coaching was right up my alley.
Coaching is a client-centered approach where the client is the expert on him or herself. The coach’s expertise is in creating lasting behavior change. Through the establishment of a trusting coaching relationship, the coach helps build intrinsic motivation to change behavior.
How can I help you?
The first coaching session allows us to begin to engage with each other, the first step in establishing a trusting coaching relationship. For coaching to work, it has to be a judgment-free zone, and a held space where you can explore, process, break down, laugh – whatever it takes. In that first session, we will look at what you value most in life. We will start to explore your strengths. And you may, as early as the first session, develop a wellness vision, which is simply how you see yourself if you were living your best life. Or it may take longer. After that, the fun starts, as we experiment with different paths, or action steps, for you to reach your goals. The agenda belongs to you, the client. I will guide you along the way. If you have certain goals, and your actions appear to be in discord with your goals, I will help you work through them. You can talk about whatever you want. You will start to see yourself change, and hear your language (self-talk) change as well.
More concretely, I can help you find work-life balance, stick to a medical regimen, become more mindful, incorporate self-care into your routine, and become more active doing things you enjoy. If you are grieving a loss I can hold space for you to grieve and feel supported. If you are caring for a sick relative, I can help you to not lose sight of your own needs.
Besides coaching, I offer a website and blog that you might enjoy. I am happy to provide you with my free guide, “10 Tips to Relieve Stress and Anxiety.” Just email your request to me at healthcoachjane1@gmail.com, and I will send a copy.
