Located at 1288 Springfield Avenue in New Providence, Providence Bar and Kitchen knows how to set the tone for a great night out. It is already well known for its outdoor patio with a retractable awning that is open year-round, but now it is under new management. They have a fresh vision and are taking the decor and menu to the next level. The focus is on fresh, high-quality food and handcrafted cocktails in an inviting, upscale space.
The outdoor dining space has new lighting and artwork and its newly-renovated indoor bar and dining room are inviting gathering places that are perfect for family dinners, after-work drinks, happy hours with friends, or just a girls’ night out. The combination of a great atmosphere, delicious food, and quality cocktails is unparalleled.
Dinners at Providence Bar and Kitchen all start with the basics-fresh, homemade ingredients and attention to detail. The dinner and happy hour menus are filled with both comfortable mainstays like calamari, burgers, wings, meatballs, and veal and chicken parmesan, as well as inventive dishes like duck confit gnocchi, shrimp risotto, branzino, and more. One thing every dish has in common is that they start with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, and it shows in the taste.
The focus on quality is evident in the drink menu as well. Providence Bar and Kitchen was the first restaurant in New Providence to have a bar in over 127 years. They take that privilege seriously. The quality of their drinks and the ingredients in their cocktails are as important as their food. Eric Heinel is a professional sommelier who curates a collection of fine wines at a variety of price points that pair perfectly with the menu selections. The cocktail (and mocktail) menu is even more impressive. Only top-quality liquors and mixers are used along with fresh-squeezed juices to make cocktails that would make even the most discriminating palate sing.
Providence Bar and Kitchen is more than just a restaurant. They are a night out. They have live music from 6-9 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and, as the weather warms, be on the lookout for scheduled whiskey and cigar nights on the patio. Dates will be posted on the website or sign up for their mailing list. If wine is more your thing, they host private wine dinners on the third Wednesday of every month. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the restaurant. Craft cocktail nights are also planned for the summer months.
