For over 40 years, Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties has been providing services across the lifespan. Our Mental Health Counseling Program offers individual, family, and couples counseling for relationship issues, work stress, job loss, the loss of a loved one, issues of aging and isolation, and many other problems of everyday life. Our Career Services Program offers Individual Career Counseling, a monthly Job Seekers Success Group as well as job postings on almost a daily basis.
Our Senior Services touch the lives of over 250 seniors each year and provides Counseling, Case Management and Community Resource Linkage, Caregiver Support, Senior Friendly Visitor Program, and nursing consultations for medication management, home safety evaluations & nutrition assessments. The Senior Shopper Program shops and delivers groceries to homebound seniors in Somerset County. The Holocaust Survivor Support Program serves Holocaust survivors in need of support as they age in place.
Our Family Mentor Program utilizes community volunteers to work with vulnerable families. The Special Needs Program – Expanding Horizons, provides social learning opportunities and support, and other activities to families and young adults.
Through the JFS Ohr Tikvah Program, seniors in local assisted living facilities benefit from outreach and cultural support. Our Emergency Assistance Program, one of our oldest programs, is busier than ever, as many people are out of work and are experiencing food insecurity.
A crucial ingredient to our success is our volunteers. They are people of all ages and backgrounds who are willing to give, not only their time, but of themselves. It’s not so much about what they DO; it’s about what they bring through a relationship that communicates, “I care about you.” That is so often missing from the lives of those whom we serve.
Serving the community since 1980, JFS is a leading, forward-thinking, highly-respected, and non-sectarian social service agency whose doors are open to the whole community, serving clients of all backgrounds (race, religion, ethnicity, culture, socio-economic background, gender, sexual orientation, age, and physical ability). JFS can help you address your problems, explore alternatives, develop new insights, and find solutions through a continuum of services including mental health counseling, geriatric assessments, counseling and case management, Family Mentor Program, career counseling, Ohr Tikvah Jewish Healing Program, services for individuals with disabilities and their families, and services for Holocaust Survivors.
