An Inviting Trip to the Dentist
By Katrina Musto
Dr. Irina Fainvets wants her patients to feel seen and heard when they step foot into her new practice. Ecladent Dental Studio in New Providence has the warm, inviting community feel that the town does, which is how she picked the location. Upon opening her own practice in early March, she is excited to have the room to be creative and provide the best experience.
Growing up in Uzbekistan amongst a family of doctors, she was always interested in the medical field and treated her toys like patients. “I always spent time in the hospital with my mom, a neurologist,” she says, “and I’m close with my two sisters, one of whom is a pediatrician, and the other is a dentist.” With cousins who are nurses and cardiologists, one by one her family moved to the United States, and in 2017, she followed. “We initially moved to Brooklyn and when I was accepted to Rutgers Dental School (to their international dental program in Newark), we moved to New Jersey,” adding, “We absolutely love it here and never wanted to go back to the city!”
Ethnically Korean, Dr. Fainvets also speaks Russian. She spent time working in other countries, so one of her passions is really listening to her patients to hear what is happening in their lives. “I’m empathetic because I, too, dislike experiencing pain, and want to find solutions by outlining a plan for my patients,” she says, “if a patient is terrified or anxious, I like to provide comfort because I can relate.” Her practice performs general dentistry (cleanings, checkups, crowns, extractions, whitening procedures, Invisalign, dental implants) Monday to Thursday from 9 am-5 pm.
The most exciting part is getting to know her patients and getting to hear what problems they are facing and how she can offer a solution. “Not the drilling!” she laughs. “I also like the relief that I see on a patient’s face when I tell them the pain is over, and they know they can relax now.” She likes to inform people of what is occurring and provide them with solutions from the best scenario to the worst, so they remain educated about the entire procedure. “For example, when I graduated, there was not as much known about preserving bone after extraction, and the importance of it, as there is today, so I like to inform patients that we can also perform complex cases instead of sending them to an oral surgeon.”
Dr. Fainvets is a proud sponsor of the LINC program, an initiative making a difference for families in need throughout the state. For every twenty-five new patients, Ecladent sponsors a month’s worth of food for a family facing challenges.
When she is not caring for her patients, she cherishes the time spent with her two daughters and husband, whose unwavering support makes everything possible. Balancing her professional and family life, Dr. Fainvets finds joy in creating lasting memories with her loved ones, appreciating the vital role they play in her overall well-being. Their encouragement fuels her passion for helping others, reminding her of the importance of both family and career.
