Six years in the making and situated on 40 acres that previously housed a military depot, Iron Peak Sports & Events offers dynamic athletic experiences both indoors and outdoors. “Within our 160,000-square-foot indoor space, we offer eight volleyball courts, four basketball courts, and an indoor turf field under a dome for playing such sports as lacrosse, field hockey, football, and soccer,” shared Fred Ewig, Iron Peak’s Business Development & Events Director. “We also have a separate family entertainment area known as ‘CLIFFHANGER Entertainment’ which includes a Ninja course, climbing walls, an arcade, and an aerial ropes course.” The facility additionally features meeting spaces that can host corporate gatherings, team-building events, and parties.
“Outdoors, we offer three full-size turf fields for all field sports, and we hope to soon develop a 13 – 14 acre section of our property in order to host festivals and community events,” Ewig said.
Drawing visitors from throughout Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, Middlesex, and Union counties, Ewig said that Iron Peak’s well-maintained sports fields help provide much-needed facilities for athletes throughout the state. “There are a lot of teams, clubs, and leagues looking for a safe place to practice, so we work with local parks and recreation organizations as well as area schools and travel teams to provide them the space for their programming,” he said. “While there used to be only one turf field in Hillsborough, there are now three more since Iron Peak opened, and we’ve been able to host soccer clubs from towns like Flemington and Princeton as well as adult leagues and pick-up games in a variety of different field sports.”

Iron Peak also offers youth development programs to help kids start their sports journey. “We hire and bring in coaches who help kids develop gross motor and other key athletic skills while also focusing on fun and encouraging a love of the sport,” Ewig said.
Iron Peak has recently launched Iron Peak Yeti, a full-service club that currently houses two sports: basketball and volleyball. Yeti basketball is coming off of both a successful spring and summer season, with their sights set on growing in the fall. The Yeti volleyball program is launching this fall and will provide a competitive volleyball program for athletes of different levels.
“The Yeti program is not just about young athletes becoming better on the court,” Iron Peak Sports Director Dave McGillivary said. “It is the goal of Iron Peak Yeti to foster development across all facets of a player’s character. We will host events throughout the year aiming to guide our athletes on the path to academic, athletic, and personal success.”
Iron Peak Sports & Events is open seven days per week and is excited to provide a venue that fosters learning, achievement, activity, and a sense of community to all guests that come through its doors.
