Mary Ann Viola is a realist painter who is best known for her portraits.
In her upcoming show at Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery, in Bernardsville, Mary Ann captures the spirit of children of all ages, at the seashore, much like Mary Cassatt, but with more realism as a result of years of study with Bert Silverman, a nationally acclaimed portrait artist.
Mary Ann lives in Rochelle Park, NJ. She attended Montclair State College, Bergen Community College, California Art Institute, Arts Student League in NYC and the New York National Academy of Fine Arts & Design.She was awarded five scholarships from 1993 to 2006 by the National Academy of Fine Arts in NYC. She is an active member of Somerset Art Association, Bedminster, NJ; Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, NYC; Portrait Society of America, Inc.,
Tallahassee, Florida and the Ridgewood Art Institute, Ridgewood, NJ.
From 1988 to 1992, she received five Outstanding Awards from the Hackensack Art Club and in 1993 was awarded Best in Show. From 1990 to 2006, she showed by invitation at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in NYC. Mary Ann was accepted into membership of the Salmagundi Club, NYC in 1991. Her work has been in many shows in New Jersey, New York, California, Nevada and New Mexico. She appeared in International Artist magazine in May of 2002.
Mary Ann has been commissioned to do many portraits of children and families and they are in private collections all over the country. She is most proud of her painting in The Village, Los Angeles, California which sponsors the AIDS Bicycle Race.
Mary Ann has been accepted into the Catherine Lorillard show every year since 2006. She has also been in a yearly open show at the Ridgewood Art Institute every year for the past 10 years.
