Linda Lam started painting flowers as a teenager using Chinese brushes and ink. Her early instruction came from Lam’s grandfather, a Chinese Landscape painter, at a young age. She came to the United States to attend college in New York City in 1986. Linda received an MA in Economics from Hunter College, which led her to a career in business forecasting for AT&T and HSBC for eighteen years after working in the yield management department for Pan Am until they dissolved the airline.
As a self-taught oil painter, Linda resumed painting full time in 2007. She prefers painting from live models and only uses five colors- titanium white, cadmium yellow, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna. Linda likes to mix her own colors from this limited palate as it gives her opportunity for greater creativity and experimentation with color.
Linda resides in the Bridgewater area with her husband and two children. One is a junior in high school and the other is middle school aged. She will have a solo show at The Bernardsville Public Library, 1 Anderson Hill Road, Bernardsville, during the month of February 2012. The Artist Reception is Sunday, February 5th from 2-4 pm. Linda will be exhibiting over 40 oil paintings, including her florals as well as many life size figure paintings/portraits, which were painted from live models.
Linda’s work received honorable mention at the Contemporary Art Juried Member shows and was recognized as the “Community Favorite” at the Raritan Valley Art Association Member Exhibit. To view Linda Lam’s recent works, please visit her website at www.lindalamart.com.
