Tammy has had a lifelong love affair with painting and gardening. She can always be found in one of two places, her studio or her garden. Being an avid gardener since childhood has strongly influenced her art. Spending countless hours amongst the flora studying their habitat, morphology, and growth patterns has helped form the basis of her work. After a successful career in floral design in Manhattan and New Jersey – on a whim, she took an introduction to botanical drawing class at the New York Botanical Garden – marrying her two loves, horticulture and drawing.
She received her degree in painting with a minor in art history from Montclair State University. Tammy earned a certificate with honors in botanical art and illustration from the New York Botanical Garden in 2017. Her work has been shown at the 18th Annual Filoli Exhibition, the 19th through 23rd ASBA Annual Internationals where she received Honorable Mention for her pieces in the 20th through 22nd shows. She currently has a piece in the New York Botanical Garden Fourth Triennial Abundant Future. In 2018 she received an Award of Excellence at the NJAA exhibit. In June of 2021, two of her pieces received awards, the Joyce Cuming Presentation Award and the Exhibiting Excellence for the Most Contemporary Example of Botanical Art Award at the SBA’s Plantae 21 Show. Her paintings are in private collections across the United States. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, the Tri-State Botanical Artists of NYBG, the Colored Pencil Society of America, and American Women Artists. She is also a Society of Botanical Artists Fellow.
