Raritan native, Jean Balogh joined the Raritan Valley Arts Association in the 1960’s. Soon after joining, she won her first of many Best in Show Awards. Her first, being an oil portrait of her son Nickie.
Jean’s professional art career has spanned over 50 years, becoming a member of the American Artist Professional League, winning top honours for decades for her oil paintings, and pastels portraits. Among many dignitaries, Jean was commissioned to sketch the portrait of former New Jersey governor William Cahill, as well as an oil painting of Bishop McCarrick, and an oil portrait of Pope John Paul II.
Primarily self taught, Jean excelled in every aspect of art, many of her paintings can be seen all over the world, including Italy, Korea ,Hungary and Isreal. Jean is an honorary member of the American Artist Professional League, in NYC. One of her oil paintings, entitled “Open Barn Door,” was purchased by the president of the Business Committee for the Arts in the United Nations Building in New York.
Though her first love is portraiture, she has the ability to paint with a wide diversity of subject content.
Jean is also a accomplished musician, and is equally known for her musical talent. When she is not painting, she loves to cook, enjoys entertaining, and spending time with her Grandchildren.
