Ethan Szeman is a current student in Mrs.Conklin’s National Arts Honor Society at Somerville High School. He has always been inspired to create art. He says that “I use art as a way to express myself as well as my interests.” Ethan experiments with many different mediums when capturing his artistic ideas, but he mostly gravitates towards using digital or watercolor. Along his artistic journey, he’s been most inspired by Johannes Vermeer, a painter during the Baroque Period that mostly focused on domestic scenes of middle-class life. He’s responsible for works such as Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Milkmaid.
Ethan’s favorite quote is from the very famous artist Pablo Picasso, “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.” In the future, he is envisioning that he will be in school for art and continuing to express himself through his artistic pieces. Ethan will continue to showcase his ideas and grow his ongoing portfolio.
