The cover art, Spring On My Windowsill, is an award-winning pastel painting created by Rebecca Rosenheck. Originally from Baltimore, Rebecca has a degree in chemical engineering. She quotes the artist Robert Henri from 1923, who said, “It is clear to see how a thorough knowledge of geometry would be valuable to the artist whose ideas are to be expressed in apparently magical proportions.” Her engineering background informs her spatial ability to translate the three-dimensional world into a two-dimensional painting.
Rebecca moved to New Jersey for her career and family and started studying pastel painting at the Montclair Art Museum, with an emphasis on Plein air painting. She learned to paint the color nuance only seen in life, which is not captured in photos. Rebecca is currently studying still life oil painting at The Ridgewood Art Institute, where the northern exposure of the studio provides exquisite natural light.
Rebecca primarily works in pastel and oil but enjoys working in watercolor and mixed media as well. She exhibits frequently in NJ and NY and many of her paintings are in private collections. Images of her work can be seen on Instagram @rebeccarosenheckart.
