Annika Chan, junior at Watchung Hills Regional High School lives with her family in Long Hill Township.
As an aspiring artist, she is in her third year of studying fine arts and a member of the National Art Honor Society. At Watchung Hills she is on the Varsity Fencing and Ultimate Frisbee Teams as well as volunteers at the local hospital. She states, “I’ve always had a nagging interest for art, but I didn’t take it seriously until my freshman year of high school.” She has worked with colored pencils growing up as they were easily accessible at home, but now has the hope to further develop her painting skills using acrylics.
Annika plans to major in Physical Therapy in college. She views this field as one which will enable her to connect with people while assisting those in need to “get back up on their feet” or perform tasks essential for everyday purpose.
Though she will not pursue art as her major in college, she will keep it as her hobby. “Without art in my life, I wouldn’t feel inspiration to try new things.”
