Fermin is an accomplished and established artist who has been creating art since he was a teen in his native Dominican Republic. He began exhibiting his work in the Plainfield/Watchung area and won awards in local art competitions soon after settling in New Jersey in 1989. Most of his works are samples of impressionism, which include, landscapes, still life, countryside details, seascapes and other forms of expression of common daily life.
Fermin paints peaceful scenes using lighting and shadows to compliment his visions. He has a wonderful sense of reality, which makes his paintings come alive. His works are vivid in detail and color showing extraordinary precision and purity.
Fermin is an active member of art associations in the Dominican Republic and in New Jersey. His paintings have been widely exhibited in the Caribbean, Italy and the North East United States. Private collectors are also seeking Fermin’s work.
Fermin Martinez has participated in more than 60 group and individual expositions and has accumulated numerous awards. He was a featured artist in the February 1996 show “Mahogany” that aired on New York channel 25 (cable), in addition to cable, network TV and newspapers in the Dominican Republic.
Fermin has an art school which is open to new students of all levels, he’s been teaching art for over 28 years and has presented workshops on the arts for local community groups and is presently the Chairperson of “RAICES,” a Hispanic Cultural group in the state of New Jersey.
