The Connections Bernards-Ridge Edition June/July/August 2022

theconnectionsnj.com HOME & DESIGN PAGE 42 The first week in April is an exciting time in High Point, North Carolina. Each year, hundreds of home furnishing manufacturers debut new furniture and design products at the Spring Furniture Market. Attendance is limited to the trade, but the best received products become available to clients over the next few months. This year, the Market, which ran from April 2-6, showed us fresh and beautiful furniture, lighting and wallcoverings! There was a pronounced move from minimalism and the monochromatic rooms we’ve seen over the past decade to more color and pattern with an overall sense of freshness. Colors are bold, but in rich pastels and true color, not the heavier jewel tones we’ve seen in the past. Many showrooms used patterns on patterns and multiple patterns in one room. The feel everywhere was joyful, uplifting and lively. The good news for clients is that an element such as a new chandelier, a chair or two or fresh wallcovering can update and transform a room without redecorating entirely. Pictured here are four of my favorite market introductions. Another important element of this year’s Spring Market was the emphasis placed on sustainable products. Consumers are more concerned than ever with potential damage to our natural environment. We saw a lot of products in natural materials rather than synthetic ~ rattan, wicker, woods, stone, cottons and linens. One of the best ways to reduce consumption and waste is to buy better. I always encourage my clients buy the best quality they can afford in classic, timeless styles. Higher quality goods last longer and have enduring comfort and beauty.
