Dr. Robert Nencheck, DC, is not only a fresh face, but he’s a motivated and evidence-based chiropractor right in Bedminster. In-network with major medical insurance providers, he’s a “one-man show,” who finds it rewarding to help people recover from injuries and pain. “I don’t just adjust the spine,” he explains, “I do a lot of soft tissue work, stretch therapy, and therapeutic exercises-a lot of different modalities.” He doesn’t just talk the talk-he’s lived it. “I played football growing up and I threw out my back,” he recalls,” I had a herniated disc and went to a chiropractor for it. That led me to become interested in the field from a young age.” He studied exercise science at Rutgers then went to massage school and completed his strength and conditioning certification. “This allowed me to be more appealing to athletes,” he says, “I’ve always had a health and wellness background since I worked in a gym when I was in high school. When I became a personal trainer, I wanted to provide non-invasive treatment options.” CONNECTION COMMENDS He attended the University of Bridgeport to earn his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree and had an internship at the VA hospital in New Haven. “A limping vet in his 70s came in with pain radiating down his back leg,” he recalls, “I got him stretched out on the table, and when I put him on his right side, you heard a loud popping noise. Next thing you know, his wife was clapping and he got up and walked out without the wheelchair! He came back for weekly adjustments until my internship was over.” That experience showed him he was in the right field and that this works. After Dr. Nencheck graduated, COVID hit, and everything shut down. He was in the process of starting his associateship in Hunterdon County and worked at that clinic for three years before he decided to branch out on his own. “I see a lot-some patients come to me for a certain condition like knee or shoulder issues, back pains, pregnancy discomfort, etc.,” he says, adding, “the first visit is an hour of neurological and orthopedic tests to see where their pain is coming from to determine a plan.” He tells every patient that it comes down to 25% of what he does and 75% of what they do at home. “Eating lean protein, drinking plenty of water, incorporating fruits and vegetables in your diet (plus having turmeric, flax seed oil, and omega 3 fatty acids), having a regular exercise program 3-5 days a week, plus 6-8 hours of sleep.” He also likes to recommend meditation, to let the mind go blank to truly relax. Visits are 30 minutes (“a mini massage with an adjustment”) and he also uses an Orthotic Scanner for those that require it. When he isn’t seeing patients, he keeps active with hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and hanging out with his four year old Corgi, Bentley. “I don’t like to sit still!” he laughs. Dr. Nencheck’s office is open Monday-Friday, 9am-7pm and Saturday by appointment only.
