Bethel Road, Suite 301, Warren, NJ 07059 www.warrenoralsurgery.com nderstanding the Modern Facelift Facelifts have come a long way since the 1950s. Early methods simply pulled and trimmed loose skin, but the results didn’t last. In the 1970s, Dr. Ivo Pitanguy pioneered the SMAS facelift, lifting deeper tissues for more natural outcomes. By the 1990s, Dr. Sam Hamra introduced the Deep Plane Facelift — a deeper, more comprehensive lift that elevates muscle, fascia, and fat as one unit. My Preferred Technique Today, I routinely perform Deep Plane Facelifts, especially for patients with significant midface sagging or jowling. This approach delivers the most natural and long-lasting results. The Confusion Around “Full Facelift” “Full facelift” is one of the most misunderstood terms in aesthetic surgery. I often hear patients say, “I don’t want a full facelift — just a little lift.” The truth is, everyone has a different definition. Let’s clarify: What Patients Think vs. What It What Patients Think vs. What It Might Actually Mean -A subtle, low-downtime lift could mean mini or lower facelift. -Face, neck, brows, eyelids could mean full surgical rejuvenation. -Botox, fillers, lasers could mean non-surgical procedures. Misunderstandings like these can lead to dis appointment. That’s why I clearly define each procedure during consultations. My Definition of a Full Facelift In my practice, a Full Facelift includes these three components: • Neck Lift – Tightens loose skin and muscle under the chin • Midface (Lower Face) Lift – Elevates cheeks and jawline • Brow Lift – Opens the upper face and lifts the brows While these procedures can be performed separately, combining them gives the most balanced and harmonious rejuvenation. • Note: Eyelid surgery, Botox, lasers, and skin treatments are not part of a Full Facelift — but they often complement it beautifully. Enhancements That Pair Well Though not part of the core lift, these procedures can enhance your results: • Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) – Removes bags or loose skin around the eyes • Botox/Dysport – Softens frown lines and crow’s feet • Laser Resurfacing – Improves texture and fine lines (I prefer ResurFX for minimal downtime) • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) – Treats brown/ red pigmentation for even skin tone Final Thoughts At Janjua Facial Surgery, Janjua Facial Surgery, a Full Facelift means a neck lift, midface/lower face lift, and brow lift-nothing less, nothing more. However, you can always ask for a limited face/ neck lift as well. Enhancements like eyelid surgery or laser resurfacing are valuable additions but separate from the facelift itself. Clear definitions and patient education are central to my approach. That way, expectations are aligned-and results speak for themselves.
