SPOTLIGHT ON SENIORS theconnectionsnj.com PAGE 23 92 East Main Street, Suite 305 Somerville NJ 08876 BRINGING HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO YOUR HOME This spring ComForCare Home Care celebrated our 15th year providing in- home care throughout Somerset and North Middlesex Counties. When I opened the agency in 2005, it was because personal experience had shown me the need for professional services to help people remain safely in their homes, where they are most at ease and most likely to thrive. Over the years, we’ve seen the need to supplement the support with daily caregiving tasks that our agency has al- ways provided, with skilled nursing services to further enhance the opportunity for people to receive care right in the home. To that end, our agency earned its accreditation in private duty nursing and IV infu- sion last year, and we are happy to announce a new line of ComForCare ser- vices provided by caring and experienced RNs and LPNs. Here are a few of the medical needs our expand- ed nursing services will be able to fulfill in the home: Wound Care —Proper treatment for slow-healing or chronic wounds can pre- vent infection, amputation, or permanent disability. Medication Management —Medication errors and noncompliance are some of the most frequent causes of unnecessary rehos- pitalization. We can make sure pillboxes are correctly filled, prescriptions are filled time- ly and patients are educated about their medications. Hourly Skilled Care —These services in- clude tube feeding, tracheostomy care, and catheter care. Intravenous (IV) Infusions —Even peo- ple with conditions requiring IV treatments or therapies can receive the care they need in the comfort of their homes. Chronic Disease Management —Nurs- ing support and education enable those with conditions such as CHF, diabetes or high blood pressure to stay on top of their health conditions, stay out of the hospital and have a great quality of life. Living through a pan- demic has made me a greater believer than ever in the value of bringing health care to the home. Our clients, understand- ably concerned about the risk of infection, feel safer staying out of clinics and waiting rooms. They cer- tainly want to stay out of care facilities whenever possible. And being sick or injured is stressful enough; they appreciate not having to go through the consid- erable effort of making it out of the house and in and out of a vehicle. Often, they cannot make these trips alone, so they wor- ry about having to “bother” others or pay high transportation costs. In their own homes, patients are better able to maintain their privacy and have more control over their care and schedule. They eat, sleep, and exercise when they want and can have family or pets nearby. With the right home support, medically stable patients can actually recover faster at home. We are really excited to add these important services to the in-home care we’ve been providing all along. Please feel free to call us at 908-927-0500 any- time to learn more.
