TOMAINO received her BFA from The Cooper Union, New York and her MA from William Paterson University, New Jersey. Leah is an Adjunct Professor at the sity, New Jersey. Leah is an Adjunct Professor at the County College of Morris and teaches painting classes for adults at Artworks Studio - in Randolph, NJ, where she also resides. Her award-winning work has been recognized and publicly lauded for its unique pioneering collage technique which involves simple materials. She recycles ordinary brown paper bags, paints them with acrylic colors, tears them into myriad pieces and then glues the pieces to canvas to realize her vision. Each collage is the product of many months or years of work. The cover piece, “Oh, Morning Glories!” received two awards in 2020 when it was completed; It received The State of New Jersey Senate & General Assembly Citation and The National Association of Women Artists’ Bobbi Mastrangelo Environmental Art Award. Tomaino’s artwork has been widely exhibited in galleries, universities, and museums throughout the USA, and is in many private and public collections.
