Seniors may decide, however, that it is too much trouble to make their way past a closed door for many reasons. It may require taking a walker, oxygen, an aide, applying sunscreen, perhaps necessitating a leap of faith. You question-is it worth all the trouble? It IS worth all the trouble. We all know it is easier to simply stay put. But I promise it is worth making the effort to open the door and feel the sun on our faces. The outdoors brings back memories that may be just what the doctor ordered to refresh our souls. Vitamin D is a nutrient that helps build and maintain strong bones and supports immune and brain health. It is a powerful way to stay healthy. Do not, however, take additional pills unless directed by your physician. Adding foods such as oily, fatty fish, like salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines, trout, and swordfish is also extremely beneficial. Additionally, cheddar and American cheese, mushrooms, and eggs are also very desirable and delicious, particularly when combined into a wonderful protein-packed breakfast.
