Working alongside community members, homeowner families, and sponsors, they create homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income families, provide essential home repairs to vulnerable neighbors, and strengthen entire neighborhoods with revitalization projects. This year brings new challenges. The redirection of New Jersey’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) away from building homes has reduced the resources available to nonprofit developers like Raritan Valley Habitat. As public funding becomes less certain, the organization is relying more heavily on community support to continue its important work. The upcoming 2025 Building Hope Gala, 2025 Building Hope Gala, on October 3, 2025, at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren, is Raritan Valley Raritan Valley Habitat’s largest fundraising event of the year. More than a celebration, the evening is a critical opportunity to raise funds for programs that directly impact local families. Attendees will enjoy a meaningful evening of dining, music, conversation, and giving, all in support of affordable housing. Funds raised through the Gala directly impact local building, repair, and revitalization projects. Currently, Raritan Valley Raritan Valley This creates huge challenges in housing for many valuable, hardworking community members. Businesses, individuals, and organizations are encouraged to get involved and help build safe homes and stronger communities. Habitat is accepting homeownership applications for a duplex they are building in Whitehouse Station, which will offer two low-income families the opportunity to become homeowners. Home repair projects help low- to moderate-income homeowners remain in their homes safely. From major repairs like roof and furnace replacements, to accessibility upgrades, these services improve quality of life and protect long-term housing stability. Last year, more than 60 households benefited from the program, thanks to funding raised through events like the Gala. Building and maintaining affordable homes is more urgent than ever. The current market-rate rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Somerset or Hunterdon Counties is $2176. That means a household would need an annual income of $87,040 to use 30% of their income on housing costs.
