Local student, Anna Kaplan , adorns our front cover with a digital painting entitled, “Zebra.” She enjoys working in all mediums such as paint, graphite, charcoal and pastel but a majority of her recent work is digital. This piece took Anna about a month to complete in Photoshop using her Wacom Tablet. She states, “Within my African Savannah project, this zebra painting was part of a mini-series of two paintings: one of them was more of a tree- scape which showed the zebra grazing in front of a tree from further away and this one (the second painting) showed the close up of the zebra eating the grass.” Anna’s paintings are very detail-oriented as she enjoys painting realistic scenes and animals with the goal of capturing a real-life experience.
