It may feel like you’re being criticized for not being perfect. It may feel like a lot of work and time that you just don’t have. Self-improvement is simply a process of enhanc- ing your inherent characteristics and pushing your- self to achieve great things that once seemed impossible. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with where you are. It’s that you may have things lying deep within that are waiting to be unleashed. Remember that you are awe- somely unique and one-of-a-kind. When you start from knowing this, you can consciously create the next best version of yourself, because you understand that anything is possible. It’s a step by step process with no right or wrong way to do it. You simply question everything and allow the answers to come to you. It’s about getting out of your head and into your heart to nd the answers. Use these 3 steps to help you in your forward moving process. STEP ONE: Explore your inner workings Most of the time we are not paying attention as we roll through life, day by day, dealing with whatever gets tossed our way. Try keeping a per- sonal development journal where you can explore the pieces that make you who you are, set personal goals, and challenge yourself to take actions that lead you outside your comfort zone. Who do you want to become? Having a vision of who you want to be will empower you to act in a different way. A journal serves as a powerful centerpiece for your transition. Use it to tell a story about the self you’d like to see realized in both the near and dis- tant future. Think about your limiting beliefs and envision a future where you aren’t bound by these limitations. Take a view of the big picture: How will you be writ- ing about yourself once you’ve uncovered how to level up your life and become the next iteration of yourself? How will your life differ, and how will the changes you make lead to improved happiness and success? What’s Holding You Back? Perhaps the most important question is nding out what’s holding you back personally and profes- sionally. Dedicate some of your journaling time to focusing on your beliefs, both positive and nega- tive, and question whether these limiting beliefs are actually based in reality. Write the belief down in your journal and realize that this is just a belief, not truth or fact. In your jour- nal entry, list the reasons why the belief is holding you back. Turn this negative belief into a positive by writing af rmations that help you banish the limiting belief out of your mind. STEP TWO: Write a New Story Now that you’ve explored some of your current beliefs and hang ups, it’s time to turn those neg- atives into positives and write a new story. Journaling about yourself isn’t just about ad- dressing who you are today, so make sure to spend some of your journaling time focusing on who you want to become. Tell a story about yourself you’d like to see realized in both the near and distant future and esh out this story as much as possible. Write as if this new story were currently your reality. One of the most powerful tools for becoming the next version of you is setting goals that help you become your ideal version of yourself. Take some time each morning to journal goals for the day and the upcoming days. Doing so helps you de ne your goals and set concrete elements for leveling up. STEP THREE: Execute Change We all know what a comfort zone feels like; it’s that space where you are content and com- fortable with the way things are in life. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying life in your comfort zone but rest assured, you won’t see any of the changes you’ve dreamed about. For any chang- es and growth to occur, you need to out of your comfort zone. Think about the next level version of you that you’ve addressed in your journal. How does this person differ from who you’ve been in the past? How does she tackle tasks in ways that are new? Use your journaling to nd out which questions to ask about yourself and proceed as the “next level you” would proceed. View your journal as a catalyst and use it to serve as a guide. Have fun as you explore the possibilities of change. Here are a few questions you can ask in your self-discovery towards creating your next lev- el self: 1. Are you happy with your life right now? 2. What’s one thing you want to change about yourself? 3. What do you like to do for fun? Is it part of your life right now? How can you create more fun? 4. Are you happy with your work/job? Why or why not? 5. Write about a fear you have. How do you over- come it? What do you need to let go of? 6. What are 3 things you’re passionate about? 7. What are 5 things you’re really good at? 8. How can you show yourself more love? 9. What negative mindsets do you need to let go? 10. What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
