Look no further than Green Lake Restaurant, located on Route 22 East in Green Brook. Green Lake Restaurant recently opened its doors this past September and has already developed a following of people from all over the area who are addicted to its fresh, delicious Cantonese dishes at reasonable prices. Nelson Mui, one of the owners of Green Lake Restaurant , is not new to the restaurant business. She has owned the popular West Lake Plum House in Matawan for 19 years. She knows what makes a restaurant a success: great atmosphere, great tasting, fresh food and wonderful service. She learned how to give that to her customers in Matawan and now she is bringing it to the Green Lake Restaurant in Green Brook. Green Lake Restaurant’s large, clean, festive, main dining room is filled with natural light and accented with genuine Chinese knick-knacks in the tra- ditional red color representing good for- tune and happiness. It is the perfect setting for a cel- ebration or just a simple meal out. There are some large tables with “lazy susans” that are perfect for a bigger family gathering or a group of friends or coworkers. The main din- ing room has an enormous aquarium with live fish that is the go-to attraction for the youngest visitors while the grownups have a chance to chat. If you are looking to celebrate a spe- cial occasion, Green Lake Restaurant also has two private rooms, one for par- ties of up to 50 people and one for par- ties of up to 15 people. Each room is equipped with a karaoke machine which guests of every age can enjoy. Anyone will tell you that the best part of a dinner, lunch or gathering at Green Lake Restaurant is definitely the food. Dim Sum, which is essentially hot hors d’oeuvres prepared in traditional Can- tonese style as small bite-sized portions and served in small steamer baskets or on a small plate, is a delicious way to share a meal with family and friends. There is also a large selection of lunch specials served from 11:30-3:00pm. daily for only $7.95 which include white or brown rice and soup. Seafood lunch spe- cials are only $8.95. If there is seafood that you want that is not on the menu you can call ahead and they will get it for you. One of the most popular dishes is the Peking Duck Special, which is delicious and fun to share. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) a whole duck is only $35 and is cooked to perfection.
