We always encourage you to follow your personal style compass while acknowledging trends. Getting dressed should be fun! Let’s not take ourselves too seriously while we talk about spring trends. Here are the Top 5 trends on our radar for the season ahead. Think Pink Keep your eyes on greens, reds & jewel tones, but pink takes center stage. The soft variety is strongest for spring, but bold pops of fuchsia are also making statements. If you don’t wear pink because of your coloring, wear pink on the bottom, or grab a pink shoe or bag to keep the hue away from your face. Sheer Delight The most daring sheer styles involve wearing some knickers under a sheer skirt or dress. It’s sure to turn some heads. At T&O, we have enjoyed a few seasons of sheer fun already and learned it’s never as see-through as you’re afraid it might be. This is a fun moment to play with layers. You can strategically cover parts that you don’t want on display. Pump Up the Volume Wide-leg pants are still big from denim to trousers. It’s not as challenging as you might think and “zshooshing” helps. This is where a stylist at any boutique comes in handy. More than anything, shoes matter. Opt for a slim silhouette on the toe. If you can’t stand a wide-leg pair of pants, stick with your skinnies. You’re not breaking any laws. Ultimately, if you’re comfortable in your clothes, you’re going to look great. Try playing with volume on top instead! Tailor Made Tailored suiting keeps going strong. Never underestimate the power of a blazer or trousers to elevate your style. The big thing for spring is vest and shorts sets. Shorts are outside my comfort zone, but in an effort to not take myself too seriously, I ordered myself a set from Apiece Apart for spring. Shorts are less daunting when you’re in a heel. Then they are treated more as a skirt alternative. I’m a sucker for a set because of the versatility. You can wear shorts with heels, a cashmere tee, and a neck mess out to dinner. I throw on the vest with my favorite denim and wear it as a top. It can also be layered over a tee, under a blazer, and more. Floral Fest I am always on board with flowers, and the fashion gods agree for spring. When it comes to florals this spring, the bigger the scale, the better. Nothing is easier to wear, so go big or go small when it comes to this trend - just remember to stop and smell (and wear) the flowers. Bonus Trend: Shop Local If you’re perplexed while getting dressed, our first recommendation is to SHOP SMALL. Great service goes hand-in-hand with local stores in your community. You will always find the guidance you need when you shop small.
