The Connections Warren Watchung Edition Nov 2021 - Jan 2022
Throughout the years, Warren Township has firmly established itself as a desirable community in which to live, work, and play. It is home to a wonderfully diverse demograph- ic which embodies people who are the heart and soul of its growth, vitality, proud past, thriving present, and promising future. As the number of new residences (apartments, town- homes, etc.), increases, so does the need to reflect on our habits and mindset as consum- ers towards the economic base that props up our charming hometown and greatly contrib- utes to its growth, diversity, and benefits. Most of the shops, stores and eateries are “Mom and Pop” type stores employing fewer than 10 people. These local businesses were hit very hard during the last 18 months and many are still struggling to survive. Most businesses are “Owner Occupied” where you can often hear the business owner say, “I love what I do but I have never worked harder for less money.” That’s why it is so important for the resi- dents of Warren and surrounding areas to pa- tronize their local businesses. You may find that their prices may not be as competitive as the big box stores because they cannot buy in the large quantities to get discounted pric- ing. Even though prices may be higher, more often than not, their markup is actually less. When shopping, people should consider the quality and the service and not just the price. It’s vitally important to business owners that patrons and clients support the local commu- nity by buying goods and services from them as often as possible and on a regular basis and not just occasionally when they need something quickly. As the Landlord of “Northwest” corner of downtown Warren, we take great pride in keeping the area looking pristine. We plant seasonal flowers, professionally landscape and maintain the lawn, display elaborate Christmas decorations, and the maintenance of our 40x60 foot flag that gets replaced 3 times a year. This all comes with a great financial bur- den but we are committed to keeping War- ren looking like the beautiful community it is. We have the honor of leasing to an amaz- ing group of entrepreneurial, hard-working, kind, generous and resourceful people. Some of our tenants have been with us for over 30 years! Many, if not most of our tenants, actually also live in the area, as do we, and they are invested financially, emotionally and physical- ly to keep Warren great. Dancing, getting a haircut, having a massage, buying wine, fram- ing your art work, listing your home for sale, shopping for jewelry or accessories, joining martial arts, getting your taxes done or en- joying a delicious burger or a cocktail and a steak, are all available to you at a stone’s throw from your home. Shopping local is a lifestyle that benefits everyone. Please consider truly, consistently and faithfully supporting your local business- es that work so hard to earn your trust and provide you with outstanding services and products that enhance your life and the lives of those whom you love. Let’s build a com- munity of mutual respect and admiration for those who live and work here. By Stacey A.
