And when she ew Providence’s newest coffee shop, Sweet Touch, offers a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere that begins with a personal touch. Owner, Marta Lazorko, does it all. “From the very beginning, baking was always my hobby,” she says, “Long before I started taking cooking courses, I loved to create new recipes and have my family be the first ones to try them out.” Upon opening in September, she handles the menu creation, in addition to working on the recipes herself. She uses individualized attention for everything and creates a full menu so people can have breakfast and lunch, where everything is fresh, never frozen or pre-made. Born in Ukraine, she remembers her mother always making crepes growing up, and that is an important staple on the menu. “I was thinking of childhood recipes of crepes that I had and loved and what is trending now, to compare everything,” she says, “People were surprised when they saw we had savory crepes too.” The Classic Parisian (ham, Swiss cheese, and Dijon sauce) and the Morning Touch (scrambled egg, turkey bacon, and cheddar cheese) are her most popular savory choices, and for the sweet tooths in the group, the “Pistachio Rose Delight (crème brûlée) and the Chocolate Banana are the favorites. “People will come in before work and grab treats to go.
