Having not published in June be- cause of the COVID 19 pandemic, it feels great to be representing the courageous local businesses who are working hard every day to provide goods and services to our community. In the past few months, we have seen profound changes in our personal lives and in the ways we interact on a business level. Throughout this pandemic period, The Connec- tion Magazines’ has continued to support the local business community by keeping them visible, in print for the April issues and though our extensive social media channels. We continue to applaud all the busi- nesses that have used their creativity and reimagined their practices in order to come out stronger! Our “new normal” will continue to present challeng- es and opportunities we may never have envisioned: curbside delivery; social distancing protocols; customer personalization practices, and new business models to survive this new world. We are committed to promoting our local businesses and helping them thrive in an envi- ronment that is foreign to all of us. Read , adorns our front cover with a beautiful watercolor with some gouache entitled, “Morning Light” . After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting, Donna worked as an illus- trator using a variety of mediums, including pen & ink, gouache and acrylic. She then took a watercolor class and has been work- ing in watercolor ever since. About this piece, Donna states, “I look for- ward to spring and early summer when flowers are blooming so I can photo- graph them. Sometimes I will have an idea for a painting that may be just about the light or a com- bination of colors and I will go through my photos to see what inspires me. In this painting I wanted the light to accentuate the de- tails in the roses and have the surrounding colors min- gled together like they do on a summer evening.” Please read Donna’s impressive bio on page 8. • IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY with your cooking prowess.
