FREE ASSESSMENT 908.788.9390 Of course, not all senior apart- ments have the space for a sofa, but for those that do, the size and function of a sofa is very key to comfortable living. Over the years my partner Carol and I have designed living areas, we have seen the selection of sofas grow, even as the size of them has gotten smaller and more versatile! I remember the first time I saw a downsized sofa created for an urban apartment. It had three pillows like a typical sofa, but it was sized closer to a love seat. The entire look was compact and I loved the ease with which it would fit into a smaller den or living room. These more urban- looking sofas have given way to soft prints and color combina- tions that would appeal to sen- iors, with coordinating ottomans. These ottomans may have tops that come off and flip over to create a coffee table, or hold magazines and television remotes. Add a warm and cozy throw and you have an inviting center of the room. There is an entire new world of offerings for sleeper bed/ sofas, as well, and it is wonder- ful to be able to offer them to our senior population. Two twin size bed sleeper sofas together offer great guest seating, and with a side table between them, they offer wonderful study or den options. For those who have children or grandchildren visiting for a weekend, a second bedroom, which is otherwise used as an office, becomes a relaxing bedroom, especially if there is a wall television, which works in almost every room. If there isn’t adequate wall space, we suggest a corner arm, which moves as the need changes. Consider a functional cocktail table, entertainment center, conversation area with two chairs and a side table and your furniture is ready for placement. Just please be mindful of safety when considering a rug…not everyone is capable of having one in their living room if someone is unsteady on their feet…and do a floor plan ahead of placement so you can save moving around the furniture. Making decisions ahead of time will save your moving men a great deal of headaches, and you a great deal of frustration! Good luck! SENIOR LIVING OFTEN BEGINS WITH A SOFA!
