Connection 2013! As we cele-
brate this joyous time of year,
without any natural disaster lo-

Local artist,
Maryann Didriksen,
adorns the
front cover with a pastel on sanded paper enti-
tled
“
Tissue Paper Flowers.”
This piece was in-
spired by the beauty of Peonies Maryann
photographed this summer. She states,”I love
how the white peony has such fragile petals and
a short almost fleeting bloom but it contains so
much stunning beauty for its short time. It got
me thinking of making those big tissue paper
flowers when I was a child. I thought of the tis-
sue paper as imitating the beauty of the actual
flower and the bright colors I used as conveying
the joy of the bloom.” Please read Maryann’s
