For celebrations, for special occasions, for new traditions, for any time… Enjoy! I was somewhat skeptical years ago when my wife, Abby, suggested that we attend a concert by Il Divo (pronounced il dee vo) at Radio City Music Hall. Inspired by the Three Tenors (Pavarotti, Carreras and Domingo), Simon Cowell formed the group. It took Cowell, best known for his work on the original televi- sion show, American Idol, three years to assemble the singers. Pictured (from lower left to upper right) are Carlos Marin from Spain, Urs Buhler from Switzerland, Sebastian Izambard from France and David Miller of The United States. Since Abby had been following Il Divo and listening consistently to the group’s CDs while driving, I thought I could per- severe through a concert. Surprise. I was totally blown away by the performance and led the standing ovation. Shortly after the event, Abby learned that her cousin Sheila was a huge fan of the group as well. So we next saw Il Divo with Sheila at a holiday concert, a couple of years later at The Beacon Theatre. It was another memorable performance. About a year later we received a call from Sheila’s son that he and his sister planned to take their Mother to an Il Divo concert for her birthday. He asked if we would like to join and of course we agreed. The evening arrived. We had a celebra- tory dinner with Sheila and her kids, then adjourned to the Marriott Marquis The- atre for the performance. Sheila was thrilled and remarked, as we took our seats, that she was very much enthralled with the American singer from Denver, David Miller, and was dying to meet him in person. At the end of a long day, Abby and I headed back to New Jersey as soon as the concert was over. About 45 minutes later, as we were about to exit I-78 for Warren, we received a text message from Sheila. Seems that her kids convinced her to go for a nightcap at a nearby bar after the show. Sheila sent a picture of herself having a cocktail with David Miller who just happened to sit down at the bar next to her. SOMETIMES BIRTHDAY WISHES DO COME TRUE By: Dan Rosenberg
