We are delighted to present a fabulous issue of The Warren-Watchung Con- nection at the most joyous time of the year. With that in mind we have included several wonderful sections in the magazine: Holiday Cheer Section, Dining For The Holidays and Houses of Worship as well as our regular sections, Home & Design, Spotlight on Seniors, Health & Wellness and our Community Calendar. The Community News arti- cle in this issue is about “Knitted Knockers!” The Auxiliary of JFK Medical Center Foundation along with its volunteer knitters provide FREE prosthetics for breast cancer patients who cannot or choose not to have reconstruction. It is a wonderful organization with local coordinator, Lenore Grubman of Watchung, spearheading this effort. Please read this heartwarming article and contact Lenore if you would like to help or need their services. In addition, we are thrilled to highlight the following businesses in this edition: Jewelry Studio, 688 Boutique, Metropolitan Window Fashions, HappiNest Antiques, Silk Road Restaurant, AmeriCare Physical Therapy, Miracle Ear and Brandywine Living at Mountain Ridge. Our tal- ented writers have given us unique insight into these businesses and their respective owners. Stephanie Segal Miller, formerly of Basking Ridge, adorns our front cover with a watercolor en- titled, “Peacock No. 2.” Stephanie’s love of art and creative process began at an early age and remains essential to the fabric of her life. The story behind her inspiration for this piece relates to the children’s book she just published. Stephanie states, “I was painting my way through the letters of the alphabet for my children’s book, U is for Urial, when I went to the Cape May Zoo. I saw the stunning peacocks and knew I wanted to paint P is for peacock. I spent sev- eral delightful months experimenting with various brushes and color combinations. I studied feathers from my friend’s backyard peacocks, used photos for reference, and even tried pinks and purples in an at- tempt to distract my brain from painting what I thought a peacock should look like. The result of my many experiments and attempts is this magnificent burst of color.” Please read Stephanie’s impressive bio on page 8.
