Self care in the form of self reflection, quiet time and self check-ins are not an option if you want to live a healthy life. In just 10 minutes a day you can improve your health immensely. If you practice what I am shar- ing here, in this small amount of time, you will have B.I.G. results. When you focus on:“I don’t have time,” “I wish I had more time,” “Where does the time go?” you will have exactly what you are thinking about, NOT ENOUGH TIME. Did you know that there are 1440 minutes in a day? Putting it in this context allows you to see that there are indeed 10 minutes available to use for your wellbeing. You don’t need to find: the right time, the best place, the perfect moment, the proper training, or put it off till things lighten up – you can start right now in only 10 minutes a day. There are 3 Simple Things that Bring B.I.G. Results that if consistently practiced will form a wonderful new habit and change your life for the better - B reathing, I ntention, G ratitude. Since self love and care is not an option, it can’t wait for you to “find the time” to nourish it. It is of extreme importance to you and to the world. The better you feel as a person, the better you act as a person in this world, affecting others with your attitude and energy. If you deplete yourself, you have nothing left to give. Reel it in and consider that the most selfless thing you can do is to create your 10 minute ritual for yourself so you can show up as your best in every area of your life. Since time may appear scarce and if you’re like me, you’re popping out of bed with a to do list that even a magician couldn’t accomplish, this is the perfect place to start embracing time as your friend. If you set yourself up with a goal of getting everything done off a list, and consider it a failed day beating yourself up if you don’t accomplish all of it, there is a solution. Small baby steps. Simple things you can do that will bring B.I.G. results to you. Here’s what you do. Set the alarm for just 10 minutes earlier. As soon as you awaken, lie in bed. Lie in the dark and start the B.I.G. process. The BIG process takes only 10 minutes and will change your day in immeasurable ben- eficial ways. #1 B. BREATHING Start with breath and focus only on breath- ing. 1. breath in to the count of five and out to the count of five. 2. breath in to the count of five and out to the count of five 3. breath in to the count of five and out to the count of five. 4. breath in to the count of five and out to the count of five. 5. breath in to the count of five and out to the count of five. #2 I. INTENTION Put your hand on your heart and ask your- self, “What is my intention for today?” Think of one sentence that can help you remember. It may look something like this: “My intention for today is to be relaxed at each meal as I eat my food,” or “My intention for today is to call each one of my children and tell them I love them,” or “My intention for today is to make sure I pet and play with my pups for five minutes.” Have a focused idea of what you want to bring into your life for the day instead of just unconsciously doing things as the day flies by. #3 G. GRATITUDE What are you grateful for this morning? Keep a pen and notebook by your bed and make a list of 5 things for which you are grateful. This is a life changing practice that can literally shift your mindset from depressed to joyful. You can’t screw this up. Practice makes perfect. And remember that consistency is the golden key that changes practice to a new habit. This new habit of welcoming in the day with love and joy will replace the old one of rushing out of bed performing tasks just to get thru the day. You will be amazed at how much different- ly your day goes when you start B.I.G. (with Breathing, Intention & Gratitude) They all count, they all matter, and when you put it all together your life will feel amazing! Your life is not a dress rehearsal.
