Uppercut
North Coast Sauvignon Blanc
Sonoma, California 2017
Fresh and clean, this wine embodies all the traits of a Californian style Sauvignon Blanc. It is pale lemon in color, with a light citrus fruit aroma and a crisp green apple and citrus zest flavor. I found it to be very well balanced with a hint of spiciness, think white pepper or green bell pepper, which rounds out the full fruit flavor. Try pairing with goat cheese and a salad.

Villa Aix Rose
Coteaux D’Aix-en-Provence AOP, France 2018
Spring is in the air and wine drinkers are looking for something clean and fresh. Beautiful in the glass, and pleasing to the palette, Rose answers the call. Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grapes are blended to produce this well -balanced, typical Provencal styled Rose. Pale pink in color, light and fruity with a white flower nose, this wine could be an easy accompaniment to your Easter dinner appetizers. Also, perfect as a sipping wine for the chef who is preparing the dinner!

La Rocherie Pinot Noir
Pays d’Oc, France 2015
A few years of age has really benefitted this Pinot Noir. These grapes were farmed in the Southern region of France where the warmer climates brought out a concentration of fruit. One sip brings the flavors of fresh red fruits, cherries and plums. The next sip brings herbaceous flavors of eucalyptus or mint. There is maturity to this bottle that allows it to be served as a sipping wine, yet it has the ability to enhance a meal. I would drink this with a charcoal grilled flank steak, chops or light sauced pasta. This wine can definitely be a spring/summer staple.

Zolo Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina 2018
Mendoza is Argentina’s most important wine region and the Malbec grape is the most important planting in the bunch. Patricia Ortiz, one of the leading woman winemakers in the wine industry, owns this vineyard. Malbec is typically fruit forward, bold and inky in color. Zolo is made from sustainably farmed, estate grown grapes that are blended to provide a smooth finish with mild flavors of oak and tobacco. The finish rounds out the concentration of fruit and I found finesse to this wine not usually found in comparable priced Malbecs. Pour this with any lean meat or earthy style foods. A burger with blue cheese and mushrooms would be a perfect accompaniment.
