Summer is here and the wine is starting to flow. Nothing beats sipping a cool glass of wine on the beach, at the lake or in your own backyard. This week we are focusing on light, easy drinking summer wines from different regions around the globe.
Beach Kite Chardonnay
Central Valley, Chile 2017
The Central Valley in Chile boasts lots of sunshine, humidity and cool nights, perfect for growing Chardonnay grapes.
Beach Kite has produced a wine with slight creaminess on the tongue. The lack of oak results in a pleasant, mellow flavor. This wine has enough body to pair well with chicken, turkey or seafood. This wine has great value for the price!
Regular price: $8.99/ Sale price: $5.97
Reserve Durand Sauvignon Blanc
Loire Valley, France 2018
Pale gold in color, this is a light, smooth, all day sipping wine. The initial flavor is earthy. Good for a light lunch or cocktail hour.
Regular Price: $12.99/Sale Price: $9.97
Nine 17 Pinot Grigio
Italy 2017
This easy drinking white hails from Northern Italy. After Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio is the second most popular white wine variety in the United States. The first whiff of the Nine 17 yields some fruit, and slight citrus. It is very light and unassuming on the palate.
Regular Price: $11.99/Sale Price: $8.97
Petit Bourgeois Rose de Pinot Noir
Loire Valley, France 2017
Nothing says summer like Rose. The last few years have seen a remarkable resurgence of what was at one time not even considered a real wine in the United States. Not anymore! Winemakers the world over have started to pay much more attention to their Rose creations. Rose can be made from pretty much any blend of red grapes, and the flavor naturally varies.
The Petit Bourgeois is fairly traditional in style. There are hints of strawberry and the Rose is flowery as well as fruity. Serve it chilled with just about anything you want! It goes just as well with either an appetizer of prosciutto and melon or with a cheeseburger or ribs at a barbeque.
