The internet is awash with news about the pharmaceutical industry. Allergan – the makers of Botox and breast implants merged with Actavis in Ireland and then Pfizer in a scheme to avoid paying US taxes. Turing CEO Martin Shkreli (the man who raised a lifesaving drug price 5000%) was arrested on securities fraud charges. Valeant CEO J. Michael Pearson went on medical leave to avoid testifying about drug price fixing and allegations of accounting fraud.
But above the scandal shines one bright light. Galderma – an innovative international company specializing in skin care (parent company Nestle – hence the chocolate), recently entered the aesthetic field. They now offer products for facial rejuvenation with a wider selection and at dramatically lower prices. Soon you will see ads for Dysport® (equivalent to Botox®), Restylane ® (same as Juvederm®) and Sculptra® Aesthetic, a few of the Galderma products.
Galderma also has a patient loyalty program. Each treatment with one of the above products earns you points which can be redeemed for money off your next treatment or other perks. Joining is free (go to ASPIRErewards.com to enroll) and makes you eligible to participate in their limited special programs. Their current promotion involves Sculptra® Aesthetic which is a collagen stimulator used to treat the global effects of facial aging (flattening of the cheeks, hollows under the eyes, deepening of the “parentheses” and marionette lines as well as jowls). Sculptra® Aesthetic can be classified as asemi-permanent product and has been dubbed by some “the liquid facelift.” It can also be used to treat aging of the hands.
When injected under the skin, Sculptra® Aesthetic stimulates the body to ramp up collagen production for increased volume and a more youthful appearance. Full correction of volume loss requires a series of injections (usually 3-4 treatments) spaced over several months. In an unprecedented special, Galderma is offering a limited number of patients undergoing a course of Sculptra® Aesthetic from a select group of doctors between February 1, 2016 and September 30, 2016, a discount of $150 off the first treatment, $175 off the second treatment and $200 off the third treatment.
