A new yoga studio is coming to Warren, N.J. on Nov. 30 – giving residents a new outlet to focus on attaining both inner and outer balance. Honor Yoga, an eco-and beginner-friendly yoga studio, is dedicated to providing a welcoming and accessible studio where healthier and happier communities can be built around the practice of yoga.
Owned by husband and wife team Cheryl and Owen McLeod, the duo has a strong business background: Cheryl saw great success as a creative director in corporate America, and Owen spent over three decades in the IT industry. In the business world, the McLeods diligently worked to find solutions to solve their client’s needs, and yoga is no different. They’ve translated their experiences to help others by meeting each individual where they are in their practice to help them achieve their unique goals.
Yoga has been shown to decrease stress, relieve anxiety, reduce chronic pain, and improve heart health, physical fitness, and flexibility, among other benefits. Following a trip to Mexico where Cheryl first practiced yoga, she immediately fell in love with the physical, mental, and spiritual practice. Upon her return, she became a 200-hour certified yoga instructor with Honor Yoga. Owen began practicing yoga with his wife and the rest, as they say, is history.
Together, the McLeods hope to share their passion with Warren residents and encourage the community to exercise and be healthy – in mind, body, and spirit.
“I’ve always practiced meditation & journaling, and I’ve been physically active my whole life. But, yoga helped me understand that there’s more to being in tune with my body – it connects your breath, thoughts, and body together during a physical practice,” said Cheryl McLeod. “I knew I had to share that experience with others.”
To celebrate the opening of its Warren studio, Honor Yoga is offering a “30 Days for $30” special to encourage the community to come in and experience the healing benefits of yoga. The McLeods are confident that once people give it a try, they’ll be hooked.
“One of the biggest barriers to getting started is not knowing where to start. People feel like they can’t join a studio because they’ve never practiced yoga before, and that is just not the case – everyone has to start somewhere!,” said Cheryl McLeod. “We are really excited to bring a studio to Warren that is beneficial to all fitness levels. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a certified yoga instructor – there is a spot on the mat for everyone at Honor Yoga.”
Honor Yoga offers a variety of classes to fit into each individual’s diverse lifestyle and schedule, including gentle, roots, calm and strong, power flow, aerial, yogabarre, and meditation, among others. Additionally, the studio is sustainably designed: The living and breathing space honors the environment through a living vertical garden, safe cleaning products, and reusable retail products.
