Who doesn’t like to have options? When it comes to shoes, I welcome the choices. But when it comes to food, and we have to think about it every day, three times at least, it can leave us feeling stumped and overwhelmed. With over 300 brands of brightly colored cereal boxes reaching out to you from the shelf, each box promising weight loss or lower cholesterol. How do you choose? Peruse down the bread section and you better cozy up with a few extra hours for deciphering which loaf to feed your family.
How are you to know what to eat to get the body that you want? It’s not always easy to make good choices but there are tools you can use to develop the skills to build the body of your dreams. It happens one meal at a time. This concept works to keep you focused and present in the here and now. Every meal presents another opportunity and chance to improve your health. Just imagine for a moment that you made every meal the best it could be.
You are directly affected by what you eat. If you are eating poorly, it shows up on your body. If you are eating food that is pure and naked, the body of your dreams shows up. Being fully aware that unhealthy foods (processed, refined, fake) have an adverse effect on your health, making you both fat and sick, gives you the motivation to eat better. Health is not only your right, it’s your obligation. It takes practice to change your habits, especially if you’ve had years of “diet” immersion and lessons in eating for weight loss with fake, low cal, low carb, low nutrient food.

Stop thinking about what you can’t have and start to focus on what you can have. Stop dieting to lose weight, and reprogram your focus on your health. It’s much easier to pass up on the unhealthy food options when you are making the choice based on your HEALTH and how you are going to feel after you eat it. I know that I feel like crap when I eat sugar. The awareness that sugar causes me to feel sick, makes the choice to stay away from it an easy one. Staying away from foods that don’t make you feel good is not deprivation, it’s a skill for living in a healthy state. More importantly, it’s your choice to pick how you want to feel. And why would you not want to feel awesome and gorgeous, all the time?
Nourishing your body with pure and naked food is not that complicated, once you put the work in to make the changes one meal at a time. Whether you are resistant to change or stuck in old habits, anything new can feel scary until you master it. The great news is that you don’t have to be the biggest loser, have a nutrition degree, or take the time to read labels. Incorporating the criteria for identifying and selecting food as close to its natural state as possible is an effective tool for helping you make better choices. Food is of major importance to the way you feel; it dramatically affects your moods, your behavior, your energy, and your attitude.
3 simple tips and tools for implementing and sustaining your healthiest, sexiest weight:
- Get some Accountability (BTW, there is nothing wrong with not being able to do it alone – we all
need help, support, love)
- Use Naked Criteria (think outside the box and select food as close to its pure and “naked” state)
- Take One Meal at a Time (make every meal the best it can be as a sure way to clean up your food and lose the weight you’ve been holding on to)
Here’s an example of a “naked” recipe using only 3 ingredients that will take you only 3 minutes to prepare. Taste is proof that healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or boring. You can drizzle this pink delight (it’s so pretty in a glass bowl) on your green salad, top off a bowl of oatmeal, dip in some celery, carrots, asparagus, chicken, or eat it straight up with a spoon!
