Basking Ridge, NJ—The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills
(somersethillshistoricalsociety.org)is delighted to welcome back Carol Simon Levin
as she portrays “Catharine “Caty” Greene: Eyewitness to the American
Revolution” on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, from 7:00 PM—9:00 PM at the
Brick Academy, 15 W. Oak Street, Basking Ridge, NJ. Admission is $20 for non-
members and $15 for current members. Cash only to be collected at the door.
Attendees are invited to immerse themselves in history and hear about Caty, the
indomitable wife of Nathanael Greene, one of General George Washington’s most
valued officers and good friend to many revolutionary notables. Caty spent much
of the war joining her husband and other officers as they moved from one
battlefront to another. She was locally known to have bunked with Lord Stirling
and to have attended fireworks in Pluckemin. She was famously known for
continuously dancing with George Washington for three hours. A witty raconteur,
Caty entertained soldiers and military families with her wit and stories during
wartime victories and setbacks and all throughout her remarkable life.
