Local audiences will find themselves humming along when the Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg presents a performance by The Doo Wop Project, Friday, April 12, at 8 p.m.
The Doo Wop Project features a group of talented, charismatic, and engaging Broadway stars from smash hit shows like Jersey Boys, Motown: The Musical, and A Bronx Tale, who trace the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sounds of five guys singing harmonies on a street corner to today’s biggest hits.
The Doo Wop Project takes audiences on a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts, and Flamingos; through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons; all the way to “Doo-Wopified” versions of modern songs originally performed by such artists as Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, Amy Winehouse, Maroon 5—and even Garth Brooks.
