A properly groomed brow can make your eye look bigger and give you the beautiful youthful character you have always wanted. Let's face it - as you age, your brows may never grow back the same way that they used to. Having the appropri- ate eyebrow toolkit - a pencil, powder, and gel - will help easily define your brow in a natural way. Think of shaping a brow is an artistic technique, and with a little bit of help and practice, you can become the mas- ter of your own personal canvas. Understanding how to use brow shap- ing tools can be daunting at first, and listening to all of the different tech- niques that big cosmetics companies advertise in the media can be both overwhelming and confusing. While it is true that mastering these tools does take both experience and practice, tak- ing the time to seek out professional help will ensure that you will feel com- fortable and satisfied with your ability to transform your face effortlessly. Experienced make-up artists will not only take the time to show you how to shape your own brows, they are also invested in helping you learn about the unique roles that gel, pencil, and pow- der play in crafting a brow that has realistic shape that compliments your natural bone structure. Appreciating the uniqueness of your features will also help guide the process of shaping your brow - for instance, overgrown brows do not compliment every face, but are best supported by strong features (large eyes, a larger face, and larger fore- head). A Few Tips from a Brow Expert • Clearing the eyebrow and shaping the brow are two different things • Most of the time, the length of the brow should extend past your eye • “Half-moon” eyebrows that are too curved can sometimes make your eyes look more droopy • Steer clear of eyebrow tattoos - the color is always off, and it is a painful process • Eyebrows should be cleaned once per month in the wintertime, and every three weeks in the summer- time • Try to avoid cutting or trimming the brow hairs; they will become coarse and brittle like a man's beard • Let the longer brow hair glow by using clear brow gel - this will help subtly hold them in place, provide shape, and make the brow hair look more dimensional.
