Florals are making a comeback as was demonstrated at the High Point, N.C. Furnishings and Trade Show - florals, fish, lily pads, Chinese Pagadoa’s - all seem to have made it back while on a hiatus since the 80’s. Pair this with bold, dra- matic colors (black is a good example). It can act as a beau- tiful backdrop for shimmering silver/gold/mirrored accents reflecting light in an interesting way. For 2016 - Blue is a big fav; navy, indigo & denim shades. It can act just as dramatical- ly as black! Another trend showed petal pink or tis- sue pink (my fav!) especially the “pearl- ized” finishes - being shiny they work well with dark, jeweled walls like black, navy and bottle green (use sparingly!). If you are considering the newest “black tile” look for your bath or kitchen - make sure you off-set it with plenty of white! Here are some dos and don’ts concerning black: First, use paint on your walls instead of tiles, it’s easier to change. Don’t use black on your backsplash and floors - it will show too many spills. Don’t combine earthy finishes with black - it’s not as stunning as white. Choose brass faucets and hardware - it’s warm and making a comeback. Finally, don’t overload your palette and display what you love! It all comes around again. Need more suggestings?
