The gallery is the whole second floor, in a historic building in Bernardsville which was the dance hall in the 1870’s. That party atmosphere is still apparent at the First Friday BernARTsville Art Walk, Artist Receptions. With a little bit of paint and a couple beautiful pieces of original art you can transform any room. Some of the best selling colors from Benjamin Moore are Palladian Blue, Revere Pewter, and Wind- ham Cream. Ralph Lauren’s hot sellers are Sienese Orange, Darcy Green and Gray Coat. For future planning, write the name and number of the paint colors used, in each room, on the back of the light switch plate. Some of these colors are on the vivid side but monochromatic rooms of cream and traditional white, with the right trim colors, are always good back- grounds for art. My combination at the Mansion in May at Blairsden, London Fog with China White trim, really made the paintings pop! And don’t forget the “Fifth Wall.” While a white ceiling will make a room brighter, it is also a place where you can be creative. And you can always cre- ate an interesting affect by painting the inside of bookcases with contrasting col- ors. When you put everything back, move it around, remove clutter, add a few inter- esting pieces of colored art glass and small miniature paintings and this can be your new art display. Remember your goal is to make your house your home, filled with feel-good memories. Frame up some of your most memorable family photos and arrange them in a grouping in the bedroom hall. They will be the last thing you see at night and the first thing to greet you in the morning. When you start your journey to spruce up your home, use your smart phone to take photos of all the rooms in your house. Include paint colors and color names, and photos of fabrics and rugs. Search the web and determine your style, to help you create a plan and set a budget. Have your favorite sofa or chair reupholstered to fit into your new design. Be creative with lighting and carpets and pillows. Whether your design is still “early marital” or you are a “minimalist millennial,” you will enjoy discovering what you like and what you want to live with. The summer exhibition in the gallery, fea- turing recent works by all the artists of Studio 7, will run from June 1-August 27. The BernARTsville Art Walk and artist’s reception will be on the First Friday, June 3, 6-pm. Many of the artists will be attending. When you explore our web site, www.studio7artgallery.com, be sure to click on the YouTube icons, on the artist’s pages, to see the creation of glass and bronze works as well as many of the BernARTsville Art Walk receptions created by Edward English. If you would like to commission an artist to create a memorable portrait of your home, favorite vacation spot, family mem- ber or pet, Studio 7 has many artists to choose from. See paintings by some of my favorites in the ad on this page. Please contact Kathleen Palmer at 908-963-0365 for more information. Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 10-4pm at 5 Morristown Road, Bernardsville, NJ 07924 Whether it is a beautiful painting or a magical piece of glass you “need” to complete your design, Studio 7 can offer you more options than you knew existed in New Jersey.
