We took close note and are sharing what we found below in hopes it will inspire you to create your perfect kitchen. COLOR The classic white kitchen is more popular than ever. White cabinetry serves as the per- fect backdrop for stunning countertops or wood floors. Conversely, a gleaming white countertop will complement wood cabinetry. Adding sleek pulls creates a modern and elegant look. Gray will continue to be a popular choice but will be softer and more neutral. This basic palette can be accented with a bright hue such as 2015’s trending color, indigo blue. Using bold colors for elements that can be easily changed such as window treat- ments or accessories allows for updating to keep the kitchen fresh. The gray of weath- ered wood is a hot trend and pairs well with brick and metal for an indus- trial look. Continuing down the spec- trum black is regaining popu- larity in kitchens and is often paired with light colors for high contrast. For a more rus- tic look, black is paired with mid-tone woods and bronze finishes. METALLICS For fixtures and accents, metallics are on trend. Sleek, modern hardware and light- ing create a contemporary look. Metallic backsplashes are an alternative to glass tile. Silver toned materials complement the on-trend look of a modern kitchen while copper and brass materials add warmth to a traditional one. WOOD Wooden cabinetry and flooring are a classic kitchen element and we are seeing the return of oak as a cabinetry and countertop choice. Wavy grain oak is a unique option not seen in the recent past. In addition, weathered wood is gaining in popularity. Complementing an industrial or traditional feel, wood that has a weath- ered finish adds a distinctive flair to your kitchen. For flooring, consider wood grain tiles that combine the texture and beauty of wood with the ease of tile. BACKSPLASHES AND CABINETRY Building on the popularity of glass tile, back- splashes stand out with bolder patterns. Solid materials such as metal are enhanced with geometric patterns. Ceramic tiles arranged geometrically provide visual interest. Cabinets with slab doors are appearing in modern kitchen designs. A shiny finish or wood grain is accented with sleek pulls cre- ating a clean look and contemporary feel. ACCENTS AND LIGHTING Mirrors are moving out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. Cabinet backs enhanced with mirrors reflect light and show off glass- ware and dishes. Or add mirrors instead of glass to cabinet doors to hide contents while adding light to the space. Lighting is going large scale with fewer, but bigger, elements. One or two large lighting fixtures can provide light for the entire space and make a bold statement.
