As the weather begins to turn towards colder temperatures, it’s nice to have some indoor options to explore. One of them could be a trip to the Westfield Mall World Trade Center and Brookfield Place. Simply take the train or drive to Hoboken and take either the PATH train or the ferry to the state-of-the-art World Trade Center Hub, com- pleted in 2016. Designed by an internationally acclaimed archi- tect, the 800,000-square-foot, ultra-modern and sleek trans- portation center is a design spectacle for the 250,000 daily commuters and millions of annual visitors from around the world. The centerpiece of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub is the Oculus, 78,000 square feet of retail and dining, with additional retail and dining on multi-level concourses. This is the Westfield World Trade Center, filled with high end retailers as well as more typical mall stores. A random sample of the range of retailers includes: The Apple Store, Buttercup Bake Shop, Cole Haan, Dior Beauty, Dylan’s Candy Bar, Eataly, Forever 21 and Forever Flawless, H & M, Joe Coffee, Kiehl’s, Lacoste, L.K. Bennett, Lobster Press, Mrs. Blooms, Neuhaus Belgian Chocolate, Pressed Juicery, Roberto Coin, Sam Edelman, Shake Shack, Stuart Weitzman, Sugarfina, Under Armour and Ugg Australia. Not the Metropolitan Museum but fun, right? Adjacent to the WTC is Brookfield Place (just a six- minute walk), also filled with luxury retailers as well as more affordable brands. Here you will find hip baby and children’s clothing, luxury clothing for men and women, luxury leather goods, athletic wear, jewelry, bath and body brands, and eye- wear. With multiple power- house businesses and a sprawl- ing downtown housing boom, it is not surprising that Brookfield Place also has an Equinox Gym, Saks Fifth Avenue and Drybar for those last-minute blowouts. Le District, an upscale food court, has abundant choices, including: Black Seed Bagel, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Chop’t, Del Frisco’s Grill, Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque, Parm, Skinny Pizza, Sprinkles, and Umami Burger. Enjoy outdoor concerts in the warmer weather and ice skating in the colder months, or just watch the boats float past the Statue of Liberty in the harbor. On a nice day, take a walk along the Battery Park promenade where the views are priceless. Before you know it, it’s time to catch the ferry or the PATH back to New Jersey.
