Founded and operated by a family of Makers, Three Hearts Home knows first- hand that buying handmade not only sustains traditional methods of art and craft, but sustains artisans themselves. It is a shop born out of love; love for craft and design and more importantly, a love of family. Started by a mother-daughter team, Three Hearts Home was originally created as an extension of the fam- ily’s custom cabinetry company, Platinum Designs. Robin Cairl and daughter Heather Cairl combined their interests and skills, and Three Hearts Home was born. Originally an online shop, Three Hearts Home tested the waters in Somerville in 2014 with a Holiday Pop Up shop in its sister company's showroom space A warm welcome and genuine excitement from the community encouraged them to put down roots, and expand its space in 2015. Celebrating the two- year anniversary of their brick and mortar shop this year, Three Hearts Home is truly one of its kind in the area. The store, designed by Ian Cairl of Platinum Designs, reflects the family’s love for history, craft, and design. It is a warm and inviting place, filled with interesting archi- tectural elements, from a historic brick wall and beams, to live edge woodwork, and walls and cabinets crafted from reclaimed materials. The smells of handmade cold processed soaps and hand poured soy candles greet shoppers at the door. As you wind your way through the shop, you are sur- rounded by a beautifully displayed collection of artisan made home goods, jewelry, accessories, apothe- cary products, children’s items, sta- tionary and all natural, artisan food items. The store features a wide variety of products by independent American makers and designers, and from artisans around the globe, via Fair Trade companies that pro- mote traditional methods of art and craft, offer fair wages and safe work environments, commit to socially and environmentally responsible practices, and invest in the commu- nities the artisans and their families live in. By shopping at Three Hearts Home you are connected with a local and global community of Makers, something you can truly feel good about. Their selection provides a perfect offering for gift shoppers looking for unique and meaningful gifts that give back. Three Hearts Home is so excit- ed to be a part of the Somerville community, and love engaging with their neighbors. This summer they began a series of DIY Classes held once a month, to share their love of craft and cultivate a creative com- munity, which they plan to resume in January. The staff hopes you will also stop by on designated Sunday afternoons for “Sips, Sweets and Savings.” And, new this year, T Three Hearts Home plans to col- laborate with Somerville restaurants for in-store tastings and savings events.
