The BBRP, also known as the Special Improvement District (SID) has a mission to serve the Bound Brook Community by working to improve and enhance the business climate and development opportunities within the downtown SID and the Borough. In October 2014 the Bound Brook Bor- ough Council passed an ordinance to re- establish its Downtown Special Improve- ment District (SID) in an effort to revive our downtown. The SID will be working under the name of The Bound Brook Revitalization Part- nership (BBRP). The SID’s focus will be on quality of life issues: upgrading sidewalks, removing graffiti, street cleaning and creating an environment where local businesses can thrive. The SID will also be working on creating community events to encourage our residents to reclaim their downtown as a social meeting place. The SID’s goal is to make the district more attractive to potential customers and busi- nesses and to encourage our residents to eat, shop and spend time in our down- town. A cleaner, safer and more attractive downtown will improve the area as a whole and residents will benefit by the improvements which will potentially increase their property values. The SID Chairman Tony Pranzatelli has been pushing to bring this benefit to our town since his first years on council and finally has the support to make this a real- ity. “For years the naysayer’s and elected officials have been at odds over a SID. I am excited to see the business community governing itself using its own resources. The Bound Brook residents will benefit as some of the tax burden to take care of the downtown shifts to the businesses” Since January, 2015 the SID has estab- lished its Board of Trustee’s and formed two working committees and is fully oper- ational since July 1 with their office being located at 18 Mountain Ave. Prior to the official start date of the SID the board worked hard to bring the Hot Rods and Harley’s event to the downtown. The Mission of the SID will be: 1. The development of a dynamic promo- tional campaign that includes general image/branding building, special events promotion and retail event sponsorships. 2. The enhancement of Downtown Bound Brook’s physical environment through thoughtful planning and con- trol of business district design, includ- ing window and signage design, main- tenance issues including those dealing with historic preservation and safety as well as coordination of zoning issues. 3. The expansion of cultural, commercial, institutional, transportation, recre- ational and residential opportunities through aggressive economic restruc- turing programs and committees. 4. Two working committees: Promotion, Marketing and Business Recruitment Committee & Maintenance and Secu- rity Committee The goals mentioned in the Mission State- ment above will not be met overnight, it will be a long term project, the seeds are being planted now to achieve our future goals. Quality of life is what separates suc- cessful cities/boroughs and towns from declining communities and during these economic times we all need to work togeth- er to make a better future for everyone. Bound Brook is moving in the right direc- tion, Come visit us, shop at our business- es and dine with us… “Bound Brook is Today’s Place To Be.” The BBRP would like to thank The Con- nection Magazine for all their support in bringing this “Spotlight on Bound Brook” to you.
