Dipped Shortbread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 measuring teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 6oz. pkg (1 cup) Nestle Semi-Sweet Real Chocolate Morsels or 1 6oz. pkg. Nestle Butterscotch Morsels
  • 1 measuring tablespoon shortening
  • ½ cup finely chopped nuts
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, butter, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract

  2. Mix until thoroughly blended. Shape into 2” logs, using a measuring teaspoonful dough for each

  3. Place on ungreased cookie sheets

  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool completely.

  5. Melt Nestle Semi-Sweet Real Chocolate Morsels or Nestle Butterscotch Morsels and shortening over hot (not boiling) water. Remove from heat.

  6. Dip one end of each cookie into melted morsels. Roll in nuts.

  7. Chill in the refrigerator until firm (about 1 hour). Makes 6 dozen 2” logs.
